hi, i have discovered an oil leak on the drivers side of my engine at the front between both blocks and i was wondering if anyone has experienced this problem before as im not sure what it could be,im thinkin it maybe the headgasket or some kind of oil seal

yeh - seems to be a common thing tbh.
Mine is just starting to weep at the moment - will maybe do the headgasket in the summer just to stop this leak.
I wouldn't let it worry you massively but just keep an eye on it and yoru oil level. The oil doesnt pi** out but will slowly drip over time.

ye mines the same it only weeps and collects onto a bracket just under where the 2 blocks meet, how much would it be to get the headgasket changed at a garage

urm
maybe £200-£300 at a guess.
Not hard to do yourself tbh. get a haynes manual. Might be the more cost effective option - or someone on here can do it.
I'm back at Loughborough uni in October - if sooner I could have done it for you.

God knows really - depends on travel/how far you're away. £100-£150 depnding on if you want anything else done whilst the heads off.
Plus might need skimming etc. so can be hard to tell tbh. Plus is worth changing the cambelt whilst it's off etc.

IMO if your looking at keeping the car I'd get the cambelt, waterpump and idler/tensioner changed at the same time depending on mileage and history.
If you want to sell it then might get away with just changing the headgasket? Shouldn;t need skimming, soundsl ike the oil seal on the headgasket is weeping at the corner.
