Test drove a car today, (02 saxo 1.1 desire) Took it for a test drive (well my dad did) and it was perfect, no noises from the engine, pulled well for a 1.1.

But when testing the brakes, under heavy braking from 60mph he couldn't get the wheels to lock up.. The brakes we're decent enough, they stopped the car, no squeaks or anything.

The car has a full MOT too.

So, is it a problem, or is he been a prick over nothing?

cheers.

Thats what i thought, but can't find anything that says 1.1 desires have ABS..

Dad also said it doesn't have abs, because he couldn't feel it grabbing and letting go of the brakes as it slowed down..

Hey,

Your Dad is just looking after your interests. Perhaps he thought that the brakes were not as firm as he would like.

It might need new shoes and pads and perhaps to have the brake fluid changed.

That said, aks your Dad if the brakes are properly tested during an MOT and if he had other concerns.

If the MOT was fairly recent then the results, if good enough for the MOT should be good enough for your Dad.

I made my son walk away from a few VTRs before he settled on the right one. It's difficult to avoid getting emotional about a car. You imagine yourself and your mates nipping around in it, but your Dad want to avoid you loitering in the "Problems & Queries" forum...

One VTR my son looked at had a vibration that would shake your fillings out, a dodgy looking "service history" and a dodgy looking seller.

Cheers
