theres been a few people ask about this so heres one i did today

tools

ratchet
30torx bit for ratchet
27torx bit
flathead screwdriver
grommit cant remember the size

first you have to remove the door card. this is done by removing these two 27 torx screws.

http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss213/stu36/Photo0196.jpg

http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss213/stu36/Photo0197.jpg

i then used my flat head screwdriver to price the door card out enuth to get my fingers under then gave it a sharp pull. if the door card has never been off before it can be very stuborn.

then you pull back the sound deadning stuff (Be carefull its easily ripped).

http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss213/stu36/Photo0199.jpg

now you can get to the inner workings of the door. remove the rod for the outer handle from the mechanism.this can be pulled off the clip of prised with the screwdriver. the rod your looking for has circle groves round it.

after that remove the 3 30 torx screws on the outer edge of the door.

http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss213/stu36/Photo0200.jpg

the mechanism will release slightly to get it out but to this i found it easier to remove the barrel and inner handle.
to remove the inner handle simply pull it toward the front of the car and it will pop out un hook it from the rod.

http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss213/stu36/Photo0202.jpg

to remove the barrel pull this in the same direction as the inner handle

http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss213/stu36/Photo0204.jpg

the barrel can now be pulled out from the outside of the door unhook it from the rod.

http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss213/stu36/Photo0203.jpg

now you can pull the mechanism down to get the door pin out of its channel.then pull the mechanism up and out of the door slightly. unhook the door pin

http://i577.photobucket.com/albums/ss213/stu36/Photo0201.jpg

replace everything youve removed. before re fitting the door card check that all locks and handles are working correctly then put the door card back on tighten up the screws pop the grommit in the hole job done. a properly de-pinned mk2.

after

hope this helps a few people out.

Might seem like a noob question, but how do you lock/unlock the doors from the inside?

stu-n-shell
2nd May 2009, 21:18
you dont mate thats the point its to stop someone bending your door frame and pulling it up to unlock the car.

This the same for mk1's?

stu-n-shell

mk1's are alot easier there is a guide for the mk one but not the mk2. you dont have to remove the mechanism on the mk2 so you miss out taking out the barrel and the inner door handle.

seems abit complex, all i did was undone the 3 torx screws on the side of the door to allow the mechanism to come towards the opening abit more, set of grips & needle nose pliars. Then just pull the rod out the retaining clip then lift out, job done 2 minutes!

I was thinking, if these are a common issue for security, is there an way you can still open the door from the inside without central locking?

The reason I am asking is my girlfriend won't like me taking apart a perfectly working car if it's not broken.

Great guide bud :) But i dont see why people go through the effort of de-pinning. If somone really wanted to break into a saxo, you litterly tap on the window and it shatters, hotwire it and ur off! Just my veiw on the matter though :)

Good guide but there is no need to remove the lock or locking mechanism.

Put simply

1. remove the door card.

2. Cut a slit in the material over the lock just big enough to slide your hand into the door.

3. Reach into the door and feel for the horizontal metal bar which runs across your door, at the end of this bar near the lock is a vertical bar going upto the door pin.

4. Hook your fingers behind the vertical bar and give it a little tug towards yourself, it will come free and the door pin can now be pulled free from the car.

There is no need to remove any mechanism or lock at all.

I used a 13mm grommit from halfords.

I did both sides in under 10 minutes including refitting the door cards.

Not knocking ur effots fella, u made a guide up for people to follow if they get stuck, fair play. But all where mearley suggesting is there's no need to remove the locking system, just saves abit of hassle!

To be honest mate i thought my imput was constructive.

Just pointed out there is no need to remove the mechanism and that there is a simpler way to get the job done.

I described how to do it and did say your guide was good.

How is that not constructive?

this is why people get confused... to many " best ways of doing it " ... I want to do this but then i think shall i use his guide, His guide or his guide .. lol .

and ive heard that you cant just unhook the pin with your hand in a mark 2. Yet someone says " Its easier just to unhook it with ya hand etc etc " CONFUSED.COM
