Hi everyone,
I have a strange leak under the vtr, It's all wet around where the drivers side driveshaft comes out the box and when I've been driving and come back it's dripping on the drive. Now when I touched the offending substance on the drive it's slippy like oil but is clear and has no odour from it and it evaporates completely in about an hour.
I've checked the brake lines, seem ok and I ain't losing fluid.
I've checked the coolant, It ain't losing any and besides that smells like a one night stand.
I'm not losing engine oil and that wouldn't evaporate.
So it leaves me thinking could it be some kind of synthetic oil out of the box as I have never had any experience using synthetic gear oil. Does it smell or not and can it evaporate. If so it leads me to think I nead to replace the gear box seals. Is that a big job. My local citroen dealer Autoworld only sells the seals as part of an expensive rebuild kit(£198.75=VAT)They can Fook Off. Are the ones on ebay anygood.
