Sounds like your forgetting to release the accelerator lol.
If its not that then you accelerator cable might be too tight

Lol, it just happened yesterday and it was not doing it before then, would it be the clutch? Any one any ideas??

do they go up and then slowly come back down m8, if so its more than likley time for a new clutch

Hi, could be a couple of things as it has just started happening.

If the car stops pulling and the revs increased then it could be the clutch.

However, I assume you are off the accelerator, clutch in and revs go up...

If so, try cleaning your idle control valve (aka stepper motor). This could have stuck open and when your car was going into idle (off the accelerator, clutch in ) it was stuck open letting air in and hence revs go up when the ICV took over from where your accelerator left off.

There is a fab thread with pictures about how to do this by db_sax here: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=174710

There are a few other things that could cause this too, but the idle control valve is a common fault on many cars and worth a try.

Dismantle the whole ICV and look at it whilst cleaning. See if it is coaked and if the cleaner gets much of the dirt off, then you can be reasonably sure you have fixed it.

Cheers
