No im not gay.
Basically i really want a new car, and seeing as though il be 18 soon (cheaper insurance) i can broaden my search.
Im not looking for anything expensive or flashy just a decent car that wil last me for a couple of years, with some potential to look good and unique.
everytime i choose 1 i want i change my mind again lol.
so...
Pug 306 HDI/Dturbo/1.6/1.8
Ford Focus 1.6/1.8/1.8 ttdi or tdci (maybe an estate)
Saxo Westcoast furio or vtr but they dont seem practical enough as i do alot of camping.
I had a few in my head :( but ive forgot.
Can anyone suggest a few please, im sooo bored of my car and fancy a change. But i want to make the right choice.
Any ideas, sorry for the long thread lol.

Insurance wont be much cheaper at 18 mate. I was paying £1450 for my sax 1.1 when i first started driving (£1001.01 with my pass plus)
This year is £750, almsot half price. Its a 1.1, and 11 years old.

Only really 25-30 you will notice a massive drop in premium usually.
Peugeot 306 hdi will serve you well, they aren't cheap to insure accorind to a mate thats looking at em atm

But you drive a rover?
306 would be the best to go with?

If your camping alot, a Derv would be suitable wouldn't it?
There stong and very good on the insurance. If your going to be camping in woods etc you don't want to ring the AA up to be recovered. But atleast with a derv they alot tougher car.

Yeah dad had one it failed after a few hours drive from holiday a couple of years back, he had a rover 400.
Now id go with the 306 because its a diesel more miles cheaper to look after?

i think the engines are quite good, if you drive them sensibly.
only problem i had was the water pump but i got that fixed and it was fine.
head gaskets dont go unless you hammer the shit out of them.

My HG failed on my 106 a week after i bought it too, shouldn't cause a blanket ban for everyone one em tho..
Yeah 306 is a sturdyish car, try quotes on the 1.8 16v model, wasn;t as much as my mate thought it would be

See my dad didnt hammer the shit out of his but it still went... Some rover's do look nice imo. i think its only a certain engine type? on a rover?

Been 18 isnt going to lower your insurance lol, but id get a 306 hdi, iv got one, for for a £150 remap you can have them running around 120bhp, and they will leave a vtr standing.
Only group 5 insurance aswell, plus 50mpg
