evenin all

have just bought the Pioneer IB100 iPod adapter but don't really know where to start when it comes to fitting it! smileys/smiley19.gif

I need to connect the yellow wire from the unit to 'a terminal always supplied with power regardless of ignition switch position' according to the manual

1) where should i connect it?!
2) how do i connect it?!

i have seen on this site someone recommending the cigar lighter for an alarm (i think) but there are three wires and i dont know which one to use or how to join the wires together. i don't think i can just strip the wire back and then join them can i?

i've also read somewhere on there that there is a decent earthing point at the base of the left hand 'A' pillar. reckon this is the best place for it?

sorry i'm all stupid on this subject but i am and can't cover it up any longer!! gutted cos i'm all excited about using my iPod in the car too!!!!

Cheers

Si

the square plug goes in the back of your head unit, the yellow wire goes to the red wire from the back of the radio (if it is going in to a saxo you would have swoped over the yellow and the red so put the yellow wire from the ib100 to the yellow wire) and the black wire to earth( black at the back of the radio.)
Job done. smileys/smiley4.gif

having problems with the adapter now. it won't always let me use the iPod to change tracks/playlists. it only does it when it feels like it. i can't find any logic behind it. when i plug it all in and start the car i get the pioneer logo and 'ok to disconnect'. on other occasions i will have full control on the iPod smileys/smiley13.gif

i've got the latest 60Gb iPod and a pioneer p6400 head unit.

has anybody else come across this? i have emailed Pioneer but am waiting for a response. no luck through google either.

you control the ipod from the pioneer head unit. you dont have to touch the ipod.

oh yeah im aware of that but i've only got an old pioneer HU which doesn't really cater for it very well. it takes a couple of seconds to browse to the next playlist etc. if i use the iPod to browse its much much quicker and i can see more than 8 characters too!!

i am saving for the Pioneer DEH-P70BT but in the mean time i'm happy to use the iPod instead.

ill wait and see what Pioneer have to say. if it works sometimes it must be possible/supposed to do it.
