When it began they stated that the recession would last 5 years. Still on target from what I can gather.

Since im at uni, the current answer to your question would be "who gives a fuck" its like being in some sort of bubble lol dont notice shit tbh, only a very very slight increase in the price of some foods. Hopefully it will be over by the time i finish, although i severely doubt it!

its aload of old bollocks the whole thing the biggest criminal in this countrys the one thats running it, and no wonder mr browns still in if the majority of the uk think oh dear the reccession came out of nowhere(like dropping a pencil on the floor oh dear)then the next laugh lets get a make believe time scale on this thing, oh well be out of the reccession in a few years time(yea sure while more buisess go into administration in the mean time yea things really are picking up).

the recession will end when banks start lending money again, they have started slightly but they are all weary of who they want to lend to. there will be legislation coming out to prevent the sort of thing that happened this time around, even if the recession ends in 2 or 3 years, we will all have to suffer the effects of it for the next 10-20 years, ie higher taxes and the like

About another year at least?
Unless the world blows up due to emissions etc, epic.

no dought concervatives will come back in to rectify labours cock ups AGAIN, why did labour even get in there full of shit and nothing has ever changed with them in history. maybe the majority of the countrys on the dole and was when they got in because people that work hard wouldnt vote labour theyd choose anyone else but them.
my old man was generating 80-100k a year as a valued cctv engineer and security consultant(and his father before him) before those tossers got in since then its got worse and worse giving people that dont deserve a chance to earn decent money from nowhere that havent worked for it i rest my case on them.

It will never be as simple to get credit again. Or at least I hope they make it harder to get credit. If they dont setup some kind of strict international policy then it will pick up quicker but it will only just go and happen again
dj_russell
5th May 2009, 16:52
what makes me laugh is our countrys very hard up for cash, cancel the olympics and stop spending money on needless things like rediculous signs, ive noticed how bad the roads have got of late its not on but instead they are giving money away to other countrys wghen its needed right here, look after number one who would look after the uk apart from maybe america if things get that bad, noone would bail us out.
TU-Tuning
5th May 2009, 16:55
Its all politics though, if we cancelled the Olympics we'd be an international laughing stock forever, and if we stop giving to other countries we'd also be looked badly upon by the world community. Especially as in a lot of cases we've helped cause the way their countries are now. For a little island we've had a massive effect on the world like

we are a very dispised country accross the globe again thanks to labour lol.

We won't be "out of recession" for a good few years, but, it seems in alot of ways to be on the mend atm, it's not an overnight thing but it should start to improve a bit soon from what i have seen (not just reading bullshit filled rags like the Sun)
I mean alot of the stock markets seem to be going up slowly when i watch the news in the morning, will have to wait and see what happens tho as can change overnight for the worse

I think it will keep going on and on and on.

theres too many houses and their cheaper now lol just you cant afford them being as your works probably been hit. also plenty of jobs if you want to earn next to nothing and it probably cost you to work by the time youve paid your petrol, i feel sorry for everyone at the minute but it was only around xmas time i was sat in with no money and my car sat on the drive.
were back to a 5 day week but i dont see it as recovery i just take it as it comes it can go to a full week to nothing in a split second. so i dont get myself excited just yet.

Jobs = Local Paper -> 1 page, and thats working for the council
Houses = Local Paper -> 1 page of houses for sale, the rest of the other 10 pages are houses to rent.

Don't get me wrong i was still at school but i do remember it. I think this one is worse than the one in the 90's.
But you have to look back and ask why they bailed out RBS, HBOS & other banks ... when they didn't help out Bearings ... oh how times change

I would had thought in a recession, Security and CCTV would be top of the list. No Money = Theifing

Will be a few years. House prices should start going up next year. I reckon we've just about had the worst of it. Its 50/50 though. Companies are losing money, but some are on the up.... its all overated by the media to make the public panic, not spend their money, which wont get us anywhere.

I was at school too, only 31 (today)
I think the last recession was just a general downturn, wheras this one was caused by people dicking about with other peoples money
stevie_m
5th May 2009, 19:49
the reason they never sorted out Bearings was because the pound was at its all time low.
i'm 30 this year, i can remember my dad worrying about losing his job considering he was already in with British Rail for 23years at that time
lets not forget house prices need to fall in line with the 3.5x rule. In my area this hasnt happened yet, so that leads me to say they have to keep falling.
Also, alot of the people i know are on 40-60k, and they live in council houses etc beacause they simply couldnt afford anything better. Now on that wage i would expect a nice house. Visa versa, i know people who live in houses that they could never afford at the current value.

I'll finally need to take the plunge and buy a house next year but i don't fancy having to put in a bloody 30% deposit to get the mortgage

yea you would think that wouldnt you everyone thinks the same thats not in this buisness but richardsons(supplier) and other suppliers and adt even have had a bit of difficulty and job cuts, they might of even gone bust richards now.
but adt and that have cut out alot of contracters same with other companys to give their own men the work that work direct. other companys are thriving off it with cutting their own engineer staff to 0 and just paying contracters so they can chuck them at any time if they get into difficulty.
the problems not the amount of incidents going on the shops are trying to hold onto their money and making do with the cctv theyve got. not long back we were fitting redwalls(motion detection) onto a focus building that had been shut down purely to stop gypsys getting onsite while they have the rest of the lease left on it.
we even took on the contract for the co-ops which has turned into nothing the staff are being shown so they dont have to pay out for callouts.
things look better now for me than they did a few months ago and im gratefull though.:y:

exactly, who has that kinda money atm.
also, pre-resesh. a modern 1 bed apartment near where i used to live would be 250k - 300k. But they are gash, in the middle of a shitty estate.
they just wanted silly money.
so for that now you would need at least 40-50k as a deposit.
