Is it possible to get to the airbag ECU module without putting the lower console to the side? It's not really convenient for me as i've screwed the gaiter into a surround and it would be too much hassle.
I was looking at it earlier briefly, and i reckon i could just get behind the console and cut the carpet and just stick my hand through?
Reason im asking is because im waiting for an aftermarket steering wheel to come and i want to disconnect the plug without going behind dash.

Why do you want to disconnect it from the ECU?
Can't you, when you remove the wheel/airbag, stick a fuse in the connector left and tuck it away into the new boss?

Not sure 2bh, don't think so. Unless i cut the plug off and put a fuse between the wires which im not doing.

Piece of wire each side of a fuse and stick it into the connector. Some tape to hold it in place.
Why do you want to disconnected it from the ECU though? Are you removing the whole system?

Have you seen the size on the holes? lol.
It seems a lot easier and safer to just unplug it from the module i think. And less chance of the light coming on because the tape could make it's way loose or something.

But if you disconnected it from the module the light will still come on, and you'd have to cut a hole in your carpet. Wherever you disconnect it your light will come on.

I don't think the light comes on when you disconnect it from the ECU mate.
Since when?
Surely wherever you disconnect it from the circuit the ECU is going to spot the open circuit and pick up on the fault.

i dont think the light will come on so ive been told
So if that plug was to fall out of the ecu that fault wouldn't be picked up?

well you could make a cut in the carpet, and have a fiddle round for the plug. whats so bad about moving the centre console+gaiter out of the way? is the gator attached to the nob?
you can as far as i know
cut it passenger side and you may be able to get in
and if the ecu is unplugged the light WILL NOT come on

Because my gear gaiter is screwed into a surround, and that is then screwed into the console. I would have to uncrew the surround to get underneath the gaiter to get to the screw holding the console in place. Lining the gaiter back under the surround would be just impossible as it's cut to size already. If this makes sense?

it will take u like ten mins if u only unplugging not taking out all together.the best thing to do is were the braket sticks out thhe floor for the sterring colum suport put ur hand under there and u can get to the conector that way unless ur hands are like massive then just make a small cut in ur carpet
