see the fuse diagrams in this thread: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?p=875025#post875025 they are for all saxos including my 2001 VTR yes? because i was just looking at my fuses and have noticed a few have the wrong amps in them, like in fuses F4 has a 15amp in it (should be 10) and F5 has a 20amp (should be 30) this is the fuse box inside the car, there were also wrong fuses in the other fuse box under the bonnet i changed yesterday, should i change them or would there be a reason different ones are being used? Thanks,

Nathan

The pictures were from the Citroen Saxo Handbook and I guess Predator_VTR scanned them and uploaded them. The mods should have made this a 'Sticky' item.

Be sure that you are looking at the right fuse box table and be careful of the descriptions as they can be different to Haynes' wiring diagrams.

As you say, Passenger fusebox fuse F4 is described in the handbook as 10A Lights-on audible.. but fuse 12 has a similar description. Perhaps for some models F4 did it and later F12 did it.

Still, you should never replace a fuse with a higher amperage rating fuse than the one you are replacing.

The worry here is that this seems common as I have seen a few threads this week relating to electrical problems.

Usually, if a fuse blows, then there is a reason for it which needs to be resolved. If it is resolved then the fuse should not blow. Sometimes, folks replace a fuse with one that is handy and perhaps forget to put the right one in. The danger here is IF a bigger fuse is put in than the wiring itself, then the fault will burn the narrowest wiring (in amps terms) as it will be the weakest electrical link. So you could burn wiring rather than the fuse.

You guys with amps in the boot driving subs will testify just how THICK the power cable is and the physical size of a 40 amp fuse. This is bigger than many electric cookers need!

You should use the right size fuse. If you use a smaller one then this possibly will blow sooner. So the 30 amp fuse replaced with a 20amp again suggests someone has had problems here before but the problem is resolved. Again an item with similar description to fuse 12.

Yes, ok to change fuses for the right sized ones.

Cheers

Unlike me, fuses don't age, fuses just die or blow, which sucks!

I changed the fuses in the box with the correct ones on the diagram and went for a quick drive so i think everything is working fine, hopefully there wasnt any bad reason for different fuses being used otherwise il find out in the not to distant future it they blow haha
