Agreed, Pulsar GTi-R is a good shout, although you'd get a dog for this budget. Front-mount intercooler, uprated fuel pump, exhaust and a remap would see an easy 280-300bhp on a healthy engine.

Classic Impreza WRX imports can be found for this budget also, although again it will be a bit rough at this money.

MR2 Turbo is another one to look out for.

Cheap Jap Turbo cars is where you'll get the most kicks per buck with a low budget.

I wouldn't associate the word fast with a VTR lol, not by a long shot, fairly nippy perhaps but thats as far as it goes, christ, even 306 diesels have a similar 0-60 lol.

As mentioned though, perhaps a VTS is one of the fastest cars you can get on a budget, whilst being in fairly decent condition.
