I'm looking for something a bit different from the norm & came accross the Ibiza Cupra TDI.

Does any rate these at all?

I know that they can be remapped to 200bhp without too much hassle but even the standard figures (http://www.parkers.co.uk/cars/specs/Detail.aspx?deriv=28529) look pretty damn gd.

What does Sax-P think?
Worth buying or not?

very good cars with lots of torque. I've been surprised a few times at how quickly they can scurry away in a high gear lol..

Nice looking motors, Previous models of the ibiza ( 1.8 20v Turbo ) haven't been as good handling as the 106 GTi

There nice looking motors mate! There was a Fabia VRS Diesel at a cruise i went to last night , had a nice exhaust and cone filter so sounded like a tractor but had some nice turbo whistle and wastegate chatter lol. I presume they are the same engine? Nonetheless I wouldnt say no :y:

not really, you just get a new clutch or repair it....

Im sure there are places in the yellow pages with telephone numbers that you ring up and some guy asks what the problem is and gives you a price :)

they are dual mass, problems with them and the ol turbos are weak, but if you look after it its probably going to be ok

Yes but a clutch is going to go at some point, and people buy these cars and keep them for years, so its going to happen at some point, so your hardly "fucked" if the clutch goes.

And if anything else goes rong, well thats just the luck of the draw isnt it, just gota get it repaired.

My mams car for example, bought from new on a 03 plate and is on its 3rd ECU now after frying the last 2 @ £800 a pop

the turbos arent weak, you can remap these to get stupid torque which sorts the boost and fueling.....

Not really problematic, yes they have dual mass flywheels across the Ibiza range, clutches will eventually be bound to go when regularly exposed to high levels of torque. Doesn't make them problematic. Turbos aren't weak either, only when incorrectly tinkered with.

i have a golf same set up burnt out my clutch and flywheel got a single mass flywheel put in and new clutch kit £525 inc labour hardly fucked am i? also if your going stupid power with them your ment to upgrade to single mass, dmf are pricey at £410 genuine or £210 for a single, they are nice cars and easily tuneable upto about 240bhp after that your have to start spending money on hybrid turbos etc

Your looking at £700-800 for a new clutch and dual mass fly wheel, but thats an uprated one so it will handle the extra power and torque after a remap

Nice cars i would have one :y:

I'm sure you can a decent combo for a lot less than that. I've heard of Ibiza owners getting hold of G60 Flywheel+Clutches which can handle a lot of power and torque for a little over £200 in parts, straight fitment.

mate the torque would be insane and its an economical. Wont sound as a nice as your VTR but its fast and tbh it might not handle aswell but a car well worth it:y:

Yeah im sure you can use the Golf Mk3 VR6 clutch and fly aswell, but if you dont use a dual mass fly, iv heard you get quite bad vibrations in the car, have never been in one with a single mass fly so not to sure about that one

you only get the vibrations on diesels and on idle dont get them when your driving, dont get any problems onthe 1.8t engines with smf

I have the Mk4 Seat Ibiza Tdi with the pd130 engine. (This is my second one after the first was written off). I have recently had it remapped and is now 180bhp with 315lbft of torque. And still returning 60 - 70mpg on a run.

I really do like the car, quite a comfy ride. A few owners mention rattles but coming from a saxo vts its a million times better.

And as a few have mentioned. I will be replacing my clutch soon as it is slipping after the remap only when underload from 1800revs in 5th and 6th gear.

Go for a test drive see what you think
