Miles are good for 2001 and is a tidy example i havnt realy found anything specific to the saxo just do all the checks like kicking the tyres ;) but seriously your uncle sounds like he's the perfect guy to take oh and check for crash damage e.g overspray, unpainted welds and stuff like that and you should be good, oh and the head gasket is a weak point actually check the oil cap for gunge

you could get a few quid nocked off aswell by saying that it will need a cambelt change soon and alternator belt

Im paying 2k on my insurance on a furio (first car etc)

Payed £1750 for it with 65k on the clock so youve got a fine deal.

Is it just me or do furio's cost more than vtr / s's

?

probably because of the cheaper insurance for younger drivers its the same with 1.1's ive found more expensive than vtr's and vts's

Looks like thats a Sax-P sticker on the rear side windows so you might find that the guy selling it is on here.

Check for any Nocking when accelerating round corner (drive shafts go alot).
check for any oil where it shouldn't be.
Check the underneath of the bonnet for marks that could mean the headgasket went at some point, and if so has it been changed?
cambelt is due within the next 10-20k.
regular services? oil change etc.
Cheeky but good one is to get him to fire her up and take your shoe off and cover the exhaust up tight, if the engine doesn't start coughing and sluttering it normally means theres a hole in the exhaust.
Check bodywork for any signs of damage, looking at an angle to see any rippling on the quarters to see if its been panel bashed out. check slam panel etc.

Check EVERY seat for any kind of wear and tear,
all lights work,
check seatbelt wear,
check all speakers work.
Check spare wheel still have tool kit in with it,
Check that the paper work matches up and there if there are any advisories on the MOT that they have been fixed.
Remote and central locking works (tends to fail).
If theres a non-standard stereo in check behind for any kind of bodged cabling.

Theres loads if you want to be really picky hehe.

Hope this helps

cant believe that noones mentioned this one yet

CHECK REAR BEAM!

See if theyll let you jack up the rear. Give the wheels and trailing arms a wiggle there should be no play or movement except from usual wheel spinning or lifting trailing arm

so its a push in and pull out sort of movement that you need to do to test it.

i did nearly mention that mate, there was a thread just the other day asking this very question.

Also you need to check for idleing problems
