hey just wondering if anyone can help ?

i have a saxo vtr mk 2 w reg and was casually driving wen the engine like half cut out , stopped and it was idleing bad , dropping to around 400 revs and bouncing back up , sounds like it missfireing wen you put the accelerator down but still drives in 1st gear sounding really bad but slows down wen put into 2nd gear , if you leave the engine off for 20 minutes or so and it drives again fine but the engine lights constantly on and eventually within a few miles does ot again :S tried new spark plugs and it still does it , anyone have any idea ?

cheers all , karl

it will more than likely be your lambda sensor by the sounds of it. take it out give it a clean and see if it works better, if not you'll probs have to get a new 1

MAP sensor I rekon. It's on the inlet manifold - remove it and give it a clean. :y:

MAP sensor , does it also have a connection to the coil pack with a clip with 3 or 4 wires in ?

It's not connected to the coil pack mate. Should be a small square-ish unit on the left hand side of the inlet manifold, near the bulkhead. It will have a bolt holding holding it to the mani and a connector leading to it.
