Hi i bought a car recently and when i change gear it tends to be quite stiff is this normal cause of the age its a 2000 saxo model thanks

never witnessed a stiff one, myne drives like a dream, and most ppls saxos ive seen have never had gearbox problems!

the only problem i get is when going into reverse, sometimes it dosnt go in properly and makes that crunching noise.

Check you linkage ,can sieze at the bulkhead mounting,or could be engine/gearbox mounting ok

mines is also a 2000 plate and i do find mines is a bit on the stiff side as well tbh.... miby its just cos am tiny tho and lack upper body strength lol
get used too it though....

Have you checked your gearbox oil?

By stiff do you mean sticky?

Iv got a 51 reg vtr and its stiff as fuck. only done 35000 miles

check linkage and gearbox oil.

Mine is stiff on my 2000 vtr, I have lubed up the linkages and it is acceptable now but still tight. Also get the 'can't get reverse without 1) crunching it in, 2) pressing clutch a few times first' thing.

Sure its not got a quickshift fitted?

They usually have a sloppy gearbox as said!
