Not sure what to do...either buy another sub exactly same as my other JBL GTO-1202D (http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/JBL-GTO-1202D-1200W-12-Sub-Massive-Bass-At-A-Low-Price_W0QQitemZ5838247016QQcategoryZ18805QQrdZ1QQc mdZViewItem) or just keep it as one and just put in 1 sub, 1 amp and CD changer in the boot install.

In 1st install would be same as bottom but with another sub obv...

Baz

i can keep my 6x9s aswell if i set my install up correctly....im thinking smileys/smiley17.gif gonna have to keep them or im down to shitty standard speakers, NOT GOOD!

KAMENi
11th December 2005, 04:37
ok, but if you're going to keep them, please make them their own boxes. it will sound much better than on a shelf

Burn the 6x9's

you dont need 6x9's. i got two 500 watt subs with a good powered amp and it sounds a lot better than my old car which had the 6x9's. its up 2 you tho at the end of the day

Baz
15th December 2005, 02:26
you upgraded front as rear speakers? don't standard speakers sound abit....shit

Scott
15th December 2005, 03:05
rear speakers are not really needed in a saxo and least of all 6x9s on the parcel shelf with a sub in the boot. Sub booting the arse out of the 6x9s as they try and play, nice...

Baz
15th December 2005, 03:14
lol, well atm! that sub of mine aint booting the arse out of anything! still! gonna take a good long look tomorrow at it while im off college. grr its v v v annoyin

i got a alpine headunit with more settings than you could shake a stick at, alpine 220 watt comps up front, 1200watt infinity sub, 700 watt mono alpine amp, 300 watt infinity 6x9's in a stealth shelf and mine sounds well nice. sub dont distort the 6x9s at all. if your head unit is set up right if you have the settings to do so then it will sound nice with 6x9's in.

Baz
15th December 2005, 03:42
mine sounds good with the 6x9s but atm something up with my sub, its producing bass....just very little, something up with the wiring im guessing.

18th December 2005, 02:04
with 6x9's i built them into my rear quarter cards and they seem ok to me so i think they are OK.

I totally understand and agree if they are on the parcel shelf that they wont really work cause of sub banging out

Baz
19th December 2005, 03:18
just decided to carpet the base and make a stand to hide all the wires going to and from the amp, maybe buy another sub at a later date. not decided where to put CD changer though yet, you recon i could get away with it on my parcel shelf? the underside obv!

nax: i agree mate i have a decent setup too with mb quart front components, alpine headunit and 6x9s and a jl sub, fully dinamatted. and it sounds wicked.

i stand by the statement you get what you pay for with audio stuff cheap 6x9's will sound crap but decent ones can add to the overall sound quality, people in the back aint just getting the sub blasting at them and i definately noticed an improvement when watching movies you get a full surround sound effect with the sub being at a better balance and not over powering the other speakers even when you crank up the volume.

Baz
19th December 2005, 18:45
im just gonna buy some front speakers along with keeping 6x9s and not bothering with another sub.

i got a sony xlpod headunit, 2 fusion subs and amps and a set of fusion 6x9's. before i did anything i dynamatted the boot and also stripped my parcel shelf of its carpet and dynamtted that too. recarpetted the shelf then set it all up, as long as the treble is set reasonably low in comparison with the bass, there is no distortion in myn at all...

Gav
20th December 2005, 21:40
w33n0r_phatsaxo you just got your 6x9s in the standard saxo shelf? would sound lots better in a mdf shelf.

Jimbo
20th December 2005, 23:50
no baz, my cd changer was mounted on the underside of my parcel shelf and when ever i went over a bump it skipped... saxo parcel shelfs are soo flimsy and shit lol

Baz
21st December 2005, 02:10
hmmm ok...how does the parcel shelf move when the boot is closed? my parcel shelf seems to be pretty sturdy, well i can always try it and see what happens, no harm done in trying.

Finally carpet the base in my boot and made the box which my amp sits on and carpetted that too, about time too, took ages due to rain and it going dark etc. All i need to do now is move my CD Changer and put some velcro on the sub and amp box and the base to stop everything moving, will post pics up some time next week as im going to the other halfs house till saturday. Av good new year everyone smileys/happy.gif

If i get a Neon for in my boot....any recomendations for a bright one and where i should put it?

Cheers, Baz

put your cd changer in the glove compartment, easy access there!

i dont use the back speakers in mine just have the bass from the back and the alpine compos unleashing the music, i think it sounds really good with mine

Baz

yeh was thinking about doing that... when you cut out that bit on the left hand side of the glove box...what you use to fill the hole left? or did you not?

cheers

Im thinking of trying to squeeze some 17cm speakers where the original rear speakers are, obviously will be difficult but i am playing with a few ideas at the moment! I am going for the Alpine components up front with tweeters and crossovers, 17cm alpines in the back and an alpine 12" sub! Amping all the speakers though to ensure pure crisp quality sound and using sound deadner on all metal close to the speakers! All speakers will not be visable except the tweeters obviously!

Sorry went a bit off topic, just think upgrading the rear speakers in original position is much better than having the 6x9s beat up by the sub and the passengers in the back get to hear the lyrics not just constant thumping from the sub!

this is how the boot install finished, when i get a new amp, sub moving back into the middle and an amp at each side.

pummel those 6x9s!

looks nice though. There seems to be a severe lack of screws in the pics?

Baz
21st February 2006, 18:22
yeh not screwed in the subs, cba atm! and thinking about getting rid of the 6x9's! o yeh for some reason its just bass coming out of them, any ideas?

Baz
21st February 2006, 18:22

Scott
21st February 2006, 18:25
i mean the whole build seems to be lacking in screws, could just be the pics though but it seems to only be held together with glue?

Check the wires coming through the cone to the tweeter/mid parts of your 6x9s.

Baz
21st February 2006, 18:27
o right yeh, the top is screwed on now under the carpet. in the other picture it was just placed on, it has been screwed in though now. ok will check them after because its pissing it down now
