3door or 4door Saloon/Hatch - Given the choice?

For quite sometime most Saloons and Hatchs have come with the choice of either the 3door or 5door option.

I see loads of ST170's and Mk6 Golf GTi's in 5door and I ask myself if you was buying new would I bother ticking the 5door over the 3door?

I can understand if you had kids and wanted that extra poke there by the extra doors would be an advantage but you have to admit a 3door will always look better.

Can anybody name a model which looked better as a 5door than a 3door? (oh and an Evo doesnt count as it never came in 3door but say a Scooby or Skyline did)

And given the choice which way would you swing 3 or 5?

Id always go 3 door, body work always flows better with a 3 door too. plus security wise 2 more doors = 2 more break in points or if you dont lock your doors somone could just slip in behind you whilest stop at a traffic light or something. i know its extremely rare but it could happen. havent really seen a nice 5 door. but i suppose the scoobys kinda pull it off.

I see where you coming from with the scooby's but I think thats mainly down to 3doors being so dam rare. I mean 22b's, P1's and RA's are pretty rare so most people wouldnt even know the normal Impreza was ever avaiable as a 3door.

I think the Mk3 Gold isnt too bad as a 5door but Id rather have a 3door over the 5door myself.

3 doors just seem to flow better IMO.

and some 5 doors are just ridiculous. like my gfs aygo, her dad got it in 5 door becuase he thought it was safer in an accident as people would be able to get out easier, but its just pointless as you literally have to climb over the rear arch to get in.
