mk2 saxo vtr clocks not working properly!

Just wondering if somebody can help! having nightmares trying to understand why my clocks are not working properly! basically its a 2000 x reg mk2 vtr now the clocks are not reading properly the temp gauge doesnt show any reading the fuel gauge seems to be fine but the speedo and revs are way out there reading about 10mph more than what the car is actually doing and the rev counter is showing less than it is actually doing! anybody got any ideas?

Well its showing abnout 10-20mph extra than on my sat nav and upon revving it it doesnt reach its max rpm it stops about 2k beforeas if the needle is in the wrong position or something any idea? could it be a fuse or something electrical? speedo cable maybe? or would the clocks themselves want replacing? confusing the hell out of me

They should naturally be showing about 10-15% more than what your sat nav says anyway.

What number is your rev gauge revving to?

not 100% sure i will have to check tomorrow but its quite a way off revving to where it should and the speedo shows about 80 when doing 70 really strange!

Hi, try changing the coolant temperature sender unit and that may resolve that. If your coolant levels are ok of course. The speed and revs are driven by the ecu, so try resetting your ecu. You can disconnect the battery for a few hours to do this. This sometimes works where the speed and rev counter are not working at all.

Did you have any luck with the dash problems Dane? Ive got the problem of the rev counter and fuel gauge not working at present, can you let me know if you cured it mate.
