Me no like, don't really see the use of a V6 4x4 for a 17 y/o thats statistically more likely to be in a crash thus with it being a 4x4 more likely to do serious harm to others 2 thumbs up for mummy and daddy!

Let me guess, it will never go off road. So therefore no point in owning a 4x4!!

My friend got a brand new 2.5 TD Land Rover Defender and had a brand new Mini OneD to learn in that his sister now has. Then he was also driving one of 2 E Type Jags that him and his dad had rebuilt. It was unbelievable tbh!

Tbh, the Suzuki Vitara probably isn't the nicest 4x4, but I dont think its maybe quite as bad as every1 on here is making out!!

I mean for christ sake, have a look at the Almera that some bloke off heres mate is driving in a thread on Gen chat. Now thats a car to slate.

I would've been happy with any car if bought for me at whatever age tbh. To turn your nose up is just ungrateful. His parents are probably trying to put him off 'fast' stereotypical cars that average 17y/olds go for.
My first car was a Y reg Austin Metro...bought, taxed, tested and insured by moi. A 4X4 wouldn't be my choice for a first car but I wouldn't say no to it.

If given the choice my parents said what would you rather a less than a year old suzuki grand vitara or a citroen saxo, it would be a no brainer!

But yeah i agree 4x4s are kind of pointless when driven around city centres all the time, majority never even take them off road!
