Most decent places give them to you litter trained already...

id guess its a tough job otherwise they wouldnt do it for you?

if you want to try, try Pets at Home etc

I saw a guide abut 6 years ago or something, it was a book on how to train your cat to use the toilet ( as in the ones we use ) pmsl

Well Im getting it from RSPCA so they get it in and try to get it rehomed asap I guess, doubt they would have time for litter training.

When I first got mine, we had a litter tray for it and it knew where to go after it explored his surrounding. Its natural for them to cover their waste.

I saw the toilet seat litter tray today in Pets at Home, was so tempted lol but I had visions of the cat in falling in so I decided against it lol

The cat I already have has done this twice in a week in the same corner of the room...so I've put the litter tray there lol x

we got ours from the RSPCA about 14 years ago, and i can comfirm they are not litter trained as one had the shits and was running around the room shiting itself as it went. we didn't choose that one. lol. tbh with our tabbys we just gave them a litter tray in the kitchen and when they looked like they were gonna crap all over the furniture we just threw them into the litter tray. only took a week or so.

Can you not just get a sort of weak stun gun that you can get it with if it goes on the floor? Or a CATtle prod?

wow, a fanclub

tbh, i would just chuck the cat in the shit tray every time it looked like it was going to shit itself. should get the idea soon enough.

although putting it in a favourite shit spot seems a good tactic too

maybe tie a bag to the tail?

The cat will just know, the hardest bit might be to get them to go outside... just take the tray away oneday and they'll have no choice, usually works.

Lock it in the shed.

Dont keep it in the house 24/7. I know of somebody who recently got one. Ill ask him for you :y:

Hi Holly,
I work in Pets at Home, and we sell a training aid to add to the litter so that it encourages them to go there instead of the floor. If they do happen to have an accident anywhere we also sell stain and odour remover to mask the smell of where they've been so that they don't go there again :)

Hope this helps

what we used to do is once every three hours put the kittens in the litter tray and it went from there they learned.

We rescued our Mash from the dogs home before she was old enough to have left her mom. She was tiiiiny and had cat flu so needed alot of TLC. We had to get some wet wipes and rub her bum with it then stick her in the litter tray. When she was old enough to poo without 'stimulation' we would put her in the tray after everytime she ate/drank. By the time she was tall enough to get in and out herself she'd got the idea! ;)
Pics of kitty when you get him/her!! :y:

i would get rid if it tbh, cats are nothing but hassle, pull your carpets, climb on the kitchen benches and stink when they have a shit. then when your watching hollyoaks and eating your tea sit infront of you and lick their arse.

Yeah, I used to work at Pets at Home too and I also have two cats and one kitten.

It should usually instinctivly go to the litter tray anyway, it should not have been let out of the house yet so it will be what it using now anyway. If you want to be extra extra safe, ask what litter they current owner uses as the kitten will be used to that smell / feel. (That's just to be on the extra safe side if you want.)

Just make sure the kitten knows where the litter tray is once it has been introduced into your house. Then just keep a check on the tray. Cats generally only go elsewhere in the house if it isn't as clean as they persoannly like (fussy things sometimes!).

If it does go elsewhere then get something to remove the odour otherwise it will keep going back to the same place. If it's a male kitten, get it neutered as soon as it is old enought to stop it spraying it's scent all over the house!

Good luck! :y:

My kitten wouldnt go in the litter tray at first because she was scared of the litter..

Put newspaper in for a bit if they do that, then newspaper with a bit of litter, then all litter.

Good that it already knows where to go toilet to. Looks like my cat when it was a kitten :y:
