Easy now,

I have about £100 or so to spend on upgrading my standard VTR sound system. Just want it a wee bit louder n bit more bass. I currently have a 40w Blaupunkt head unit that was going to stick with...

Should I upgrade front speakers?

Or buy a cheap amp and some cheap 6 by 9s? smileys/smiley4.gif

Any thoughts other than save?

Cheers, is the mutant amp any good? What about that with the JBL 6x9s.

So I need amp wiring kit, anything else?

How easy is it all to fit? Just cut holes in the shelf and screw the amp and wires in? Any advice? smileys/smiley4.gif

Will I be disapointed without a sub?

i have them 6x9s, was impressed with them while i had them with no sub, after you get a sub then have to go back to 6x9's you would be disapointed with lack of bass but whats the chances of that!? very slim.

Cheers is it an issue that the amp only is 160w x 2? Can you increase the gain relative to the front standard speakers as they tend to give in at a certain volume!

Any advice on fitting amp, wiring and speakers? smileys/happy.gif

heres my advice: dont bother with 6x9s, get the amp and get some front component speakers.

the amp is good you wont get better really for a brand new amp for 50 quid.Though they are now selling brand new for 35 on the ebay.co.uk

Cheers will get the amp then.

Do the component speakers just go in place of the standard front 13cm speakers? How do you wire those into the amp if its in the boot??

Do I need to modify the shelf other than the holes for 6x9s?
