Some rca leads have that small wire running through the middle. one of mine does. not a clue what it is though. I left it alone and wired up the amp like i normaly do. Dont think it carries a current becasue its not attached to anything when they connect to the back fo the headunit.

Deffently the remote cable, and yes it is important to have a remote lead if u want ur amp to turn on, u dont have to use that one tho, u may have run another. and the cable from ur headunit to amp is called a phono or rca cable, both the same thing

definately the remote wire, if there is no blue wire on the back of the headunit, attach it to the switched live on the headunit.

lol i found this on my rca cable and didnt know what it was meant for so used it for a remote as well... pretty handy and saves having millions of cables running around. and yeah the correct wire on the headunit is blue/purple (maybe with a white stripe), so thats the right one there anyhow
