After driving back home from uni the other day (250 miles) I thought I'd finally get the annoying knocking noise sorted that was happening everytime I turned the wheel under acceleration. I knew it was CV/Driveshaft related.

Got to the garage, put it up in the air and it turns out that the rubber cover that goes over the CV joint had split and the clip holding it on had snapped, therefore pissing oil and grease on the inside of my wheel!

We sorted that by putting a new cover a clip on and re-greasing the lot. I also Jet-washed my wheels front and back, absolutely mint now!

BUT........

Driving back I still had that noise so it's gonna have to be a new driveshaft after all!

ALSO..........

As I was reversing off the ramp there was all of a sudden a huge 'slipping' noise. I thought I got a bit of wheelspin over the wet ramp, but I think it was more than likely my clutch slipping smileys/smiley11.gif

I've just reached the 50K mark so a new one is in order anyway I think smileys/smiley11.gif

Lowering and BMC all to come before 7th Jan........ smileys/smiley2.gif

I dont think at 50k you should need a new clutch. THat sounds a bit strange.

the cv joint thing has happened to me too. and i get that kinocking noise everytime i turn left and accelerate smileys/smiley5.gif i went to my trusted garage who had fixed my cv boot after it split and they said, "mweh, no point getting it fixed yet, you may as well get the wear out of the driveshaft, so until it becomes a real problem, leave it." So i have, get annoying but drives fine smileys/smiley14.gif i took the mechanic out for a drive to demonstrate and it wouldnt do it smileys/smiley7.gif

oh and 50k out of your clutch? i know i have a punie engine but im nearing 70k and the clutch is sweet.
