Most people dont really look after their laptops. What they do is keep them clean on the outside.

Question for all laptop owners...

When was the last time you cleaned the fan inside your laptop?

Most people dont so the laptop runs hot and eventually goes BANG!

if you do not want to open the laptop at least blow hard on the side the grill vents are to make a clearing for the hot air to escape.

Hope this helps....

ok.

this is a laptop not a pc

PC mainbords have a bleep code to assess problems.

Only a few Laptop boards have this.

Most laptops when the cpu fails will just sit and not do nothing. Some laptops bleep when the memory is not pressent although not many.

The only way to diagnose the problem is to swap parts. The average user would not have the equipment to test the mainboard.

I knew it would have been that blue satalite.....ive had loads of them in shop for repair.

OK repair

under the laptop you'll see a grill where the fan is...you need to remove it.
when the plastic is removed you will notice the fan and a peice of copper running from the cpu to the fan. thats the bit that is getting to hot.

the fan has a cover on it....usually 3 small screws...remove then and then remove the dust...you'll see it alright if this has not been done before.

Put it back together and maybe you'll be lucky and it will come alive again.

I got that copper thing off before and cleaned it but to fully see the fan id have to take the whole bottom off?

Unfortunatly thats the way forward.

If you cannot access the fan you will need to remove the base plastics. if that is the case remove the copper heat sink which in sitting on the cpu and clean it up.....must get rid of the dust though.

It is abit of a pain but take it easy and i think you'll be ok.

Your laptop at the moment is already dead so whatever you do can only be positive.

unusual for toshiba laptops to die from experience. Mines left on 24/7 and all i've ever had to replace is the fan as the bearing went on it.... Its now 6 years old ish.....

Whats its model number? I'll have a look for any known issues....
