I'm having problems wiring my my install.

I have a sub and amp with all wiring etc.

i plugged everything in and wired everything up except the remote wire as the guy i bought it off said i wouldn't need it.

After wiring it all up, the amp wouldn't work/turn on even though there was power getting to it and running through it.

so i bought another amp and just wired it all up and the amp won't turn on.

Now i'm thinking it may be down to the remote wire that isn't plugged in anywhere and that my old amp may actually work after all.

i can't find anywhere to plug the remote wire into the headunit.

Any ideas???

Guy you bought it off, was he a cowboy by any chance lol

every amp needs a remote wire, its a signal wire from headunit to amps to tell them to switch on

What headunit do you have, any pics of the wiring??

Cheers for the reply mate.

Got it sorted out, the blue remote wire connects to the red wire going into the headunit.

now its all working and i have to return an amp to halfords lol.

Its taken me over a week to work all this out

Cheers

bridge the +12v and remote terminals and it will turn on

the remote is the purple one which may or may not have a white stripe down it... test with a multimeter in any case

edit nvm you sorted it

the remote wire is normally blue. and is seperated from the rest of the wires round the back of the headunit. it should have some sort of connector device to connect it together. you need the remote wire for your amp to work. i had the same problem before.
