They will be worse in the rain due to how wide they are, other than that they wont make any difference :y: i have 19's on my saxo and it is fine

Its not really because of the width.. more to do with the likely very low profile tyres you have which have a far stiffer side wall (pro-rata)
In the rain especially what happens is the tyre contact is very static and doesnt roll off it gradually... the grip just lets go after the grip threshold has been exceeded giving the impression of poor grip when in actual fact its more to do with poor grip progression.

You will generally find that tyres that are good in the wet have softer sidewalls either physically or pro-rata (high sidewalls) while good dry tyres are generally far stiffer walled... or again by pro-rata ie, lower profile.

i think 17s look gash tbh 16s are ok and will handle nice on 45s pros dats if your cars not lowered more than 35mm thoe outherwise you have to use a 40profile and then your back to squre one with the grip issue

15s on 45s lowerd 50mm and you'll ave a nice set up and will handle propley with plentey of grip :y:
