The new iphone update is meant to be available from the 17th June, which is today.... but I can't for the life of me, find the option to download it!!!

Has anyone updated theirs yet?

Well as far as im aware, we need to wait on them releaseing the 3.0 ipsw file & then you update your 3G using Pwnagetool & the new ipsw?

I'm sure i was impatient at the 2.2.1 updates though and used quickpwn instead so im running the new baseband but i dont think that will affect me being able to update using pwnagetool, i use an 02 sim anyway.

The iPhone 3GS is just a lame arse gimmick by apple...

Most of them as far as i can tell dude, majority of it is just software updates. The new phones got some slightly newer harware & a 3mpixel camera but its not much to rave about really.

Edit: Oh yeh Maxamus, i forgot apple just developed this thing they call the 'compass' its got a needle which always points north, magicnetic north i think they called it, apparently its gonna help out with navagation but i cant see anyone bothering with it, not with GPS that we are used to, it aaaaaalmost feels like a big step backwards ;)

I liked the idea of voice command... the internet tethering is a rip off its not part of you contract so you have to pay more as a 02 bolt on to use it...

yeh voice command is on the s :( the internet tethering lets you connect your Iphone to a laptop or pc and use it as a broadband modem, giving you access the the net anywhere.

Apparently you can get it already, but it's not "live" via iTunes servers in cali till 6pm.

and yes there is copies of 3.0 floating about but ! you cant activate it till apple offically release the update. unless you have a developers account or no somebody who has , as they can add you to the dev team using you iphone id.

Was going at 4.0mb/sec but now down to 1.9mb/sec as the servers are getting hammered.

I dont need it jailbroken, the only reason it was jailbroken before was because i am PAYGO but now 3.0 supports that i can use the official 3.0 OS. Yippy!

I hope downloading and installing it will be fine i dont think i need to restore it before i install it.

It's noticeably quicker, really is. Absolutely flies through the menus and returning to home is instant.

Had a look through options and doesn't much has changed.

Whats the craic with pwnagetool & the 3.0 update then? As far as i can see there isnt a new version of pwnagetool released & my current version is moaning about the 3.0 IPSW file i've downloaded!

iphone-dev said the tool would work with the new IPSW & also that it would be released before the 3.0 update :detective:

I downloaded it, then when it went to install, it said 'File corrupt'.
Tried to install it again and now it wants to download all 230mb AGAIN.
Piss take, now it says 2 hours remaining. Did it in 20odd mins first time round.

Just noticing something while texting the fact it doesnt put capitals in when you put certain things

like lol used to be LOL and atm used to be ATM now they stay in lower case which is good

Yeah I've noticed that as well. Annoying though for some words but apparently it remembers the most used words or something.

But at least mine still auto corrects minge and clunge = win. Also fuck is no longer duck.

* We have two issues that we’ve been trying to resolve:

1. There are new 3.0 complications with YouTube.app if you’re on a hacktivated (unofficially activated) device
2. There’s a bug in Apple’s new version of asr that our custom IPSW’s are tickling and causing crashes on, on some devices. (For the nerdy or curious among us, the details of that bug were tweeted by planetbeing a month ago.)

* As of Thursday morning we now have a workaround for #2. For #1, we’ll try our best to get it fixed but we may end up releasing a preliminary jailbreak in which YouTube doesn’t work for hacktivated devices, and then follow that up with a more complete jailbreak when we can.
