Once ive got a bit of money together ill be buying a new clutch for my car, dunno why i just want to, ill be changing gearbox oil as well, is there anything else worth replacing at the same time ?. i have access to a ramp and 2 pits and a SHIT LOAD of tools, i can pay like £50 to have it fitted but id rather have a go myself, Is it hard or quite easy if i take my time and use a haynes manual ? ive searched the forum and cant find a guide on it. Any advice is appreciated :y:
Thanks
Ross.

Mine was quite easy to fit and i fitted it at home on the floor difficult bit is getting the gear box lined up and back in.

box is about 35kg, you can carry it around no problem. To take the box off and put it back on sit it on a jack.

easy to do, ive removed and refitted a gearbox myself twice now. did a clutch change myself on tuesday afternoon on my driveway!
i will point out though the only reason i had to change it was because the brand new one i put in on saturday was slightly off centre so it ripped its self to bits!

So a haynes manual will state what needs to be removed to get to the clutch ? also theres a tool for lining the clutch up isnt there ? i dont really want to rip mine apart :P
Thanks so far guys :y:

you're going to have to drain gearbox fluid, undo gear linkagaes from the box, remove clutch cable, undo earths, unplug speed sensor on the back of the box, romve bolts on the drivers side driveshaft intermediate bearing(if your car has one) and unbolt the starter motor
now do the following on both sides;
wheel off
hub nut off (will have to unstake the end)
undo track rod end
undo top of drop link
separate lower arm balljoint
pull hub out and pull shaft out.

then theres 4 bolts around the bellhousing holding the box to the engine, 3 going in through the bellhousing into engine and one round ther back going through the engine into the bellhousing.

change clutch

then reverse

Actually after reading it again the hardest bit sounds like its gonna be getting the box in and out

it looks like a lot but its not really. and yeah the hardest bit is removing/refitting because its so heavy and awkward you need to be carefull not to damage anything and needs linig up perfectly or it just wont go back in lol.
i'd recommend removing the power steering pump and bracket, not completely from the car jus rest it on the bulkhead so its out of the way
