You need jailbreak to make custom tones dont you?

However my tone is still saved even though im not longer jailbroken

No you can make them very simply using itunes, you make a copy of the song, then shorten the clip to under 30 seconds in itunes, then change the file extention. sorted.

I still cant work out how to do ringtones. I am using 8.2itunes on Mac, and have got 3.0 on my 2G iphone.

How do you shorten the song and make it into a ringtone?

I found a really simple way whoooo!!

If your a Mac user you can use garageband to create the ringtone and send it straight to Itunes!
