Hey People, Not sure which gearbox i should use for my 16v conversion as it did not come with a vts gearbox. I have two options for now which is either a 1.4 westcoast box or a vtr box (both are around the same mileage). Hoping the box wont be on long. Im skint at the moment and i need one of these boxes on whilst i'm saving for a low mileage vts box or a rallye one if i can find one. Help appreciated. Thank you :y:

Furio box is bit shorter than vtr box, in 1st and 2nd. 3rd 4th and 5th they are the same, long as fuck!
2mph difference in 1st
5mph difference in 2nd
Don't know if vtr diff is stronger or the same. Take the best condition box if its not going to be on long!

Ive heard somewhere that the diff in the VTR box is slightly stronger. Ohhh well thanks for your help then guys. I really need to save for a shorter box...... xsi or rallye box ftw!!

out of the 2 i'd be using the vtr one, bit stronger probably

Use the box that fits the passenger driveshaft - only one box will fit due to different diff size.

are you sure? ive got vtr shafts in a vts box, or is it just the lower models that have different shafts?

really i thought all the boxes were interchangeable. The 16v engine I'm using is a jp4 from a 206 1.6 16v. I'm going to be using this whilst i rebuild my j4 bottom end then ill just use the jp4 head with the j4 bottom.

Your better off with the J4 Head and JP4 Bottom end.

really been on rallye register and they say that the jp4 head has bigger valves than the j4, this seems to be a cheap option of a big valve head.

Saxo bottom end with C2 Head is the setup for that reason.

wrong way round, you want the c2 head and saxo bottom end

My westcoast (non-sports) driveshaft wouldn't fit my s2 (sports) gearbox, the shaft didn't go in far enough (due to a larger diff within sports boxes) so just leaked.
I have now bought a vtr (sports) driveshaft to fit my s2 (sports) gearbox.

Yeah jp4 head = c2/307/206. j4 bottom = saxo vts. You can get away with using a jp4 engine whole with a saxo inlet and ecu which is what im hoping to do. Whilst the j4 bottom end (saxo vts) is being rebuilt. Ive heard that the jp4 bottom end is weaker than the j4. Thanks again.

I hope you are running a drivers side driveshaft with intermediate bearing!
