well a little while ago my car got broke into and they pinched my sub smileys/smiley7.gif , so a friend of mine gave me a kenwood one to tide me over till i got another.

a couple of days ago i heard a loud bang when i went round a corner coming form the boot. i never noticed a sound difference and every thing was working fine.

today i decided it was time to tidy the wires up from the amp because i just slung the sub i when my mate brought me it.haha. as i lifted the sub out the boot i heard that bang noise again so i shuck the sub and it kept doing the same noise.

when i removed the sub from the box i found this...

now i assume its some sort of resistor because its in the possie power lead. but why havent all the other subs ive even owned had one??? has anyone any ideas???? smileys/smiley4.gif

possibly a treble blocker, blocking the higher end frequencies to avoid killing it. Must admit if thats what it is i have never seen one fitted factory before?? Possibly fitted by your mate?

scott, you're right. it's an inductor, a coil, connected to keep the treble away from the sub. it "cuts out" frequencies with a 6dB/oct slope, with a value of 10.6 mH. i cant tell what frequency it's set on, i need more info on the sub
