Lol yes but the sheer acceleration of the thing blew me away, shitted all over a VTR and was on the ass of a zetec-s with a 1.7 puma lump

What track was this on...?

minxymears

Whh track was this on...?

;) lol :p

Figures:

Engine Size 1686 cc
Cylinders 4
0-60 mph 12.5 s
Power Output 73 bhp
Valves 16
Torque 165 Nm 121 lb-ft
Top Speed 106 mph

Not looking that impressive .... and a VTR is (should be) quicker ...

***EDIT***
MASSIVE improvement on the facelift:

Engine Size 1686 cc
Cylinders 4
0-60 mph 10.5 s
Power Output 98 bhp
Valves 16
Torque 240 Nm 177 lb-ft
Top Speed 116 mph

That is a fair torque figure!! But a VTR should still be quicker:

Engine Size 1587 cc
Cylinders 4
0-60 mph 9.1 s
Power Output 100 bhp
Valves 8
Torque - 100 lb-ft
Top Speed 120 mph

Feck off!!

furiomike
22nd June 2009, 16:58
diesel's often feel quicker than they are. i think all the torque makes them feel light, but they still ain't really going that quick.

My mate got one remapped that was on the forecourt of his dads garage, was reasonably nippy. Kept up with VTRs. This was years back though so I was well impressed. Didnt know shit about cars then, couldnt even change a wheel lol, but still thought it handled like a turd

dj_russell
23rd June 2009, 05:08
i used to eat 1.7td corsa cs in my 1.4 corsa b sport with a mantzel inlet, exhaust and inductionkit lol so not very quick at all tbh mind i used to eat vtrs aswell.

MiniGibbo
23rd June 2009, 09:25
Yeah my uncles 2.7 litre porsche

So to answer my question no you havent been in a fast car ^^

matt_vtr_15
23rd June 2009, 10:02
you seem to be easily pleased....

especially when in terms of normal production cars pretty much every newish turbo diesil would spank it...

By no means are they fast or quick, on that note neither is my vtr they are just nippy.

0-60 in under 6 secs is something that is quick, not something around the 10 second mark...

even with the higher torque it's still pretty low torque in relation to most other cars...

Saxotim
23rd June 2009, 21:27
my mates got a corsa d 1.7 cdti sxi. just on a level with my vtr in terms of performance. and my vtr is much better around the corners, where it matters lol :y:

dj_russell
23rd June 2009, 21:39
a remap might get you a nice little gain being a turbo, and make it perform a little better.

Ross1308

Im sorry but how is a 2.7 litre porsche not fast

Acceleration from 0 - 100 km/h (0 - 62 mph)
5.3 s
5.2 s (5.0 Sport +)

dj_russell
23rd June 2009, 22:01

Other than the caymen its the only other model the used the 2.7 in and even the caymen dont come in with 0-62 times like this so im lost really

MiniGibbo

mega lolz at 5's for a 2.7

Well tbh i can call a 2.7 porka slow seeing as ive had personal experiance with a 2.7 caymen.

3.2 s maybe there low 6's iirc but still not fantastic, a fast one is a 911 3.2 turbo 4wd :clapping:

I will say though although a little slow in the straights even a 2.7 boxter is as well engineered. Its hard to explain until you drive one it ticks all the boxes percise steering good weighted feedback and the brakes are bang on.

To name jsut a few "fast" cars

911 turbo
gallardo
m3/5/6
f430
360
355

do i need to go on...

Ross1308
23rd June 2009, 22:29
Got those figures from the Porsche website and oh yeah its a boxster s :D

Not trying to argue with anyone just saying how is that not fast :D

ner ner ner, I've been in faster cars than you.

The 1.7DTI Corsa is not fast. We've got a 1.7 DTI old shape astra (similar wight and performance) here and my girlfriend hates it. It's hideously slow. My school teacher girlfriend thinks it's slow.

Them specs on the website are for the new boxster s 3.4 litre not the 2.7 buddy look at displacement thats engine size
