HELP PLEASE :(

my car recently failed its M.O.T because:
Nearside front Macpherson strut has excessive movement at the upper attachment [2.5.A.1c]

what i wanted to know is, can this be easily fixed? people have said the bushes, but dont go any further to help me have any idea what they are talking about :wall: can this be the cause and will just changing them pass it on the M.O.T?

Also how much would it cost for the bushes or if this isnt the problem, how much to get it repaired?

i really want my baby back on the road :broken:

Thanks, Luke

Whenever I buy another car, I always buy a Haynes manual. Those things are invaluable. It will give you an idea of whether the job is hard or not. And to be honest, I tend to think they over exaggerate the difficulty sometimes. Secondly, regarding the price, use the yellow pages and pick up the phone. I know its an old concept......but it works.
Finding a good reputable garage that you trust is one of the most important things with owning a car if your not capable of handling the repairs yourself.

This man speaks the truth. Pick up the phone and call some garages if your not confident in doing it yourself.

If it is extensive movement in the upper attachment the most common thing that itll be is the top mount bearings. These can be bought for around £20 or cheaper.

Then to change them its not a difficult job, if you're not confident enough to do it yourself then garage prices will vary but certainly as an absolute maximum dont pay anything over £100. You'll probably find some people who will do it as low as £30

The only other part of the top suuspension that usually fails or wears is the top mount itself and again these are about £20/£30 per pair or cheaper
