I have been using XP Pro for years now. I never used Vista as I found it slow and just caused more problems than its worth.
I am running Windows 7 Build 7127 and think it is great. My system is running faster than it did when using XP.
I Installed Windows and the only drivers that were not installed was my sound card. I simply ran windows update and that sorted that.
On the desktop you have small text in the bottom right hand corner stating your build number etc.. If you want to remove it simply run this patch: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=3AKF1TDG Please note this is NOT a crack, it is simply a GUI Tweak. It works with builds 7100 and 7127 both 32 and 64 bit.
Is anyone else using it? If not whats the reason?
The main programs I am running are:
- Office 2007 SP2
- Nero 9.2.6.0
- uTorrent 8.2
- Dropbox (Remote Backup)
- AVG Pro 8.5.339
- CuteFTP 8.3 Pro
- WinRAR 3.80
- ConvertXtoDVD
All running perfect with no problems at all.
My Hardware is far from amazing but this is what I have:
- Asus A939 Motherboard
- NForce3 Chipset
- AMD Athlon 64 3500+
- 2gb DDR400 Memory
- 160gb Seagate IDE Hard Drive
- Nvidia 128mb GeForce 6200
- ASUS Wireless b/g USB Dongle
- Sony 16x DVDRW
- Belinea 19" TFT

Windows 7 Latest Info:
Its been reported by the website neowin.com that the release date of the RTM version of Windows 7 will be released on the 13th July 2009. RTM stands for Released to Manufacturing, its the same as the Retail version of Windows 7 simply without the pretty box. The RTM version is the version that gets sent to the likes of Dell, HP and Asus to pre-install on their new computer systems going on sale.
This is good news for current Windows 7 RC users. It means the code will be finalised and in turn will start the production of millions of Windows 7 DVDs that will be sent out to retailers ready for the 22nd October launch date.
So within the next 10 days we will past the point of no return for Windows 7, no more beta testing and no more Release Candidates. I for one am so glad to get to this stage. I have been using Windows 7 as my main OS for the past 2 months, and in this time have been unable to keep up with the number of Release Candidates floating around.
I wonder what will be happening in the way of Windows 7 marketing and advertising? This is the next big stage for Microsoft. I guess only time will tell.

Yeah i've been using it for a few months now and it has to be the best operating system MS have designed in a long time!
I'm using the 64bit version which has allowed me to upgrade my ram from 2gb to 4gb :)
My laptop is a taplet PC and has the old hp recovery partition, which I've kept for whem the trial runs out in March! Can't believe by then your system will automatically restart itself every 2 hours lol! Bastards!!!!!
I have to say I've not had any problems with drivers etc. Although my desktop did have a problem locating a sound driver but running the windows updates fixed that also :)
This is actually an OS i'd pay money for ;)
