my brain hurts !!!!

been on the internet/phone trying to get a good deal on my insurance renewal & i'd forgotten how much hard work it can be. lol

Tescos wanted to put my insurance up from a renewal of 660 to 906 because of my mods. Adrian Flux were the best with 725 including all mods, but phoned them and they can get it from Equity Red Square (sister company) for 647.

going to have an hours break, phone a couple more companies then take out a policy. i hate the fact that some insurers won't touch me because of the mods. plus i still have to pay 450 excess with everyone because i'm not 25 yet smileys/smiley7.gif

oh well - the joys of motoring smileys/smiley17.gif

I tried adrian flux, they quoted me £803 with all mods declared but when they sent through the papers with all the details of my quote it valued to £976, so just a warning to read the papers they send you thouroughly smileys/smiley17.gif

how old are you al?
23 mate.... BUT i've only been driving just over 2yrs so i only have 2yrs no claims. to be honest the quote from Adrian Flux is pretty good considering i've only got 2yrs & it is a good 1000quid less than i paid when i first got the car

thats what i was trying to do mate but most of them ain't taking the bait this year.

JaxoSaxo - keep your fingers crossed mate. think my exhaust played a big part as they see it as a "performance" mod even though it only gives about 3bhp max lol

its the area that you live in too that will affect it
my postcode used to be NP1 so it was cheap but then they changed our postcode to CF83 (cardiff) so now i pay lots more

DO NOT GO WITH ADRIAN FLUX! my fella was with them when he had a modified car and when it got stolen they wouldnt pay up what he insured it for! and a similar thing happened to my stepbrother too!

5th January 2006, 20:35

flipsaxogirl

5th January 2006, 20:38
was that question for me saxx?

saxx
5th January 2006, 20:39
when your bf didnt get back the value of his car - was the policy for an agreed value.

Yates
5th January 2006, 20:39
yeah it was flip

insurance companies will only pay out what they think the car is worth....unless you agree how much its worth when you start the policy

flipsaxogirl
5th January 2006, 20:42
yes he had an agreed value because he had mods done whilst he was with them and had to phone and write a letter to declare them. and even though he insured it for 9,500 due to mods starting from scratch they would only cough up £500. its disccusting. but he had an agreement with them and they broke it

saxx
5th January 2006, 20:44
And what did he do about it?

flipsaxogirl
5th January 2006, 20:44
he had a big court battle with them over it because they have a sister company called NIG who said it was adrian flux fault and AF said it was NIGs fault and so on

flipsaxogirl
5th January 2006, 20:46
they promised him a like for like quote as long as he had all the receipts for mods

Yates
5th January 2006, 22:18
he had an agreement that his car was worth 9500 and they only paid 500?

what car was it and what mods did he have to it?

surely if he had it in writing from the insurance company there is no way at all they could get out of it? if there was a way out of it why bother agreeing a price?

hiya guys - went with Adrian Flux in the end. they seemed to actually care about the car/mods and were really good with me.

tried elephant and they quoted me over a grand - no way i'm paying that !!

yate5y - not got it lowered mate, got a s.steel exhaust system. thats where the problem is, they all see it as a performance mod lol

thats wierd cos my only mod is lowering but still pay only 750 fully comp and i dont have any no claims :S

Yates
6th January 2006, 02:24
suppose mines a low risk postcode and gets parked in garage over night and secure car park during the day

but still with 2 years no claims and 2 years older than me you would think mine wouldnt be about 300 less
