Heyy guys just jacked the car up and put the rear on axel stands.
My step dad last night said to get the calipers off and free the pistons inside.
My rear brakes failed the mot and my step dad had a quick look last night and said to do this.
But before i do this can anyone advise me how to go about this.
2 bolts holding caliper on (am i correct)
Then remove brake line and handbrake isii
Any advise will be great so i can crack on now

Take the pads out... Then all you do is wined them an out with a flat head screwdriver till are freed... In-between doingthat you want to spray the piston with wd40...

Yes i have taken pads out. All i see is a rubber cover so i took that away and theres a shiny silver cylinder shape thing sitting upright with like a spring around it and a weird cut out at the top of it

Does anyone have a picture of the piston in the caliper.
I am now quite confused.
I understand the piston is lying flat ways hence pushing the pads yehh.
But i have a cylinder shape piece lying upways and i aint got a clue what it is.
It has a funny shape cut-out at the top of it if that helps.

Little update. I tapped out the cylinder shape attached with handbrake and then un wound the piston out. Had my mate to pump the pedal and the it did not push the bit out which pushes pads together. Does this mean its seized and what can i do about it, i dont fancy buying another caliper.

Now ive done it i cant get the circlip back on at the top of the handbrake cylinder thingy.
How on earth do i get that back on
