I think my gearbox's on it's way out,

Just wondering is it worth getting another Vtr one..

or... Geting a different one??

My Mates put a Vtr box on his quiksliver..Its much better he says...

I heard Diesels ones are good for Vtr's?

Best for performance??

Thanks in advance! :y:

ive heard the 1.5 diesel boxes are good, their geared uo for lower revs i believe so should respond better when you have a higher revving engine

VTS and deisal boxes are completley diffetent mate, same first thats it.

VTS is the best box really, gives you better accerlaration yet dosent kill your fuel economy.

if you dont care about fuel S1 rallye box is the quickest accelaration box followed by the XSI.

And theyre all as reliable as each other really.

wrong.
the gearset is the same its the final drive ratio that is different.
iirc the mighty s1 rallye box will give you the best acceleration but even with a vts limiter be flat out at just over 120mph.
also a diesel box is the same ratios/finaldrive as a vtr box.

lol I suggest you do some more reading.

Diesel boxes are the same as VTR effectively.

They are effectively long, so crap for in gear performance, even worse for a peaky high revving engine due to the gear cluster, about the only thing they are good for is MPG and silly theoretical top speeds :D

Explain how they are similar, the gear cluster and final drives are totsally different :D

Because a theoretical top end of 170+ on an 7800 rpm rev limit is daz shiz yo!

would take 3 days to get there with an 8v lol

thinking back, its the only reason i sold the VTR.. hated the gear box that much lol

16v was soooo much better, loved driving it home from basingstoke on the M-ways, best time driving ive had in my life

Take an S1 box and replace the 5th gear with a diesel or VTR one. The 5th gear is in a separate casing, you can do that even on car

Rallye box limits at 110 (or thereabouts) with a 6200 limit. Not the most practical box for everyday use, but for picking up speed it's by far the best box IMO.

so a rallye box will be the quickest in acceleration but not go past a ton?

and do you have go have your car re-mapped if you change gearbox?

what about the xsi box?

WestyVTR

xsi box is the closest you will find to a rallye box, it is slightly closer than the 1.4 box iirc...

no map needed fit the box and smile smile smile...

For 6250rpm limiters with Vtr wheels with 55 profile tyres the top speed is 106.1mph with vts wheels its 105.6mph.

For 7250 limit on vts wheels top speed is 122.5mph

For 7800 limit and vts wheels top speed is 131.7mph

No you dont need a remap.

sounds like anything BAR a VTR box i would go VTS by the sounds, dont want to loose much top end and something reliable is also a bonus :)
