garage told me i need an exhaust seal ring or something they werent too sure on the name of the part, otherwise the backbox cant fit to the main exhaust pipe as there both female ends.

this seal ring jus connects the 2 pieces together so it can then be clamped

anyone know where i can get one or what the proper name is?

yeh that donut gasket thing looks like the right part, they showed me the part i needed only a bigger version of it and it looked similar to the picture above but it had a raised ridge running throught the centre of the ring,

i dont need the clamp as they put a new clamp on

that solid silver gasket is for the join between the manifold and cat (centre section if cat is in the mani)
this one is for the bckbox join

you dont put mesh ring between backbox and centre pipe. use exhaust paste and a proper new clamp. bit fiddly IMO. easier with 2 pairs of hands.
