speedo problem

hey guys and girls. i am new to the site so havent got quite used to it yet. i have a problem with my saxo. its 1999 vtr. the speedo just does what it likes. some times its fine then the next its ok but if u give a good whack on the dash it kicks in, some times it reads 30 wen i plain as day doing 60 and then sometime it just decides to do what it want and jumps all over the place. if anyone could point me i the right direction would be much help. i dont mind having ago at fixing the problem myself either so as much info as poss. thanks guys. matt

Did have this issue with my instrument panel, mine just stopped working, fuel gauge, rev count, speedo.

I took it out and disconnected the wires in the back and re-connected them, all works fine now, may just be a lose wire. I followed instructions from a Haynes manual to take it out.. Might be worth a shot.

yeh sounds like a loose conection in the dash board
