right, ive finished lacquering the bumper as its being fitted at about 7 tonight - wanted atleast 10 hours to fullydry.
Ive been reading that after a few days, once the lacquer has fully hardened, to get the best colour, i need to use 1500+ grit wet sandpaper, and softly sand the bumper. once it is dulled, i need to polish it up - its called "dulling"
any ideas on this as it seems rather... odd? my bumper looks nice and glossy with the primer but ive not colour matched it to the car with the primer on.
Anyone used this befor or have any tips/advice on what to do?
cheers

I use to work for a bodyshop doing smart repairs basicley wait 12+ hours for your paint to harden then with 1500 grit WET AND DRY the front bumper so theres no shine to the whole painted surface.
The main reason for doing this is to remove ORANGE PEEL , SMALL DEBRIES , and to give an overall better SHINE.
Now it needs to be MOPED meaning using a polishing machine called a (MOP)and some (G50 RUBBING COMPOUND) to bring back the shine and leaveing it a lot smoother and overall better looking
Make sure when mopping not to leave the mop in one place for too long as you will get LAQURE BURN meaning youll take off the laqure and have to start all over again not good :wall:.
halfords do the polishing mops for 20-40 quid but for the best results get a profressional mop for 150 mark.

personally I've only flated down imperfections, but that's with a proper spray booth set-up.
I assume that with spray cans the quality will not be as good so here's what I would do:
Go out and buy the most expensive orbital polisher you can justify buying.
Using the finest wet and dry paper you can find, wet sand the areas you think need doing.
Using some good quality rubbing compound buff up with the orbital polisher and then hand polish with decent quality polish.
Park car in garage and go down the pub, because it's now sat evening and you've had enough of the bastard car.

well i fitted the bumper and in some places the paint has cracked off.... i did about 6 lays of primer, about 8 layers of spray and 4 / 5 layers of laquer (thick layers) - is it because the lacquer hasnt finished hardening... fitted 8 hours after spraying - will touch up and lacquer those areas again is its nothing to bad
