another option is the protectice paint film, its quite simply a clear film thats applied to the paint to stop paintchips.

There not shit tbh
i lvoed mine but scratched my bonnet only because it was on the car all the time, ticket syas you need to take them off every now and again, and its best to wash them in the machine, maybe in a pillow case to stop the leather being damaged

in theory they are a brilliant idea, the first time i fitted mine and did a 5 mile journey the bonnet was covered in scratches and the paint was freshly waxed just before fitting so it wasnt due to dirt etc.
i actually phoned the manufacturer to complain..............not that it did any good they just said oh thats never happened before

bonnet bra's = heavy bent imo...
mtpagey
31st July 2009, 20:10
along with a lot of fowk, i dont see the point, especially on a mk1 cause the grille is seperate to the bonnet > less 'protection'.
i mean is it just me or do other people get stone chipe more than 6 inches onto the bonnet? the mk2's at least have a fair bit of the 'front' of the car covered with the bra fitted, but not with the mk1. your only protecting 6 inches of a sloped surface which should theoretically not take a direct hit from stones anyway.
also, i'd have thought that leaving the bra on would cause less damage than regular taking it off and putting it back on?
each to their own, but to second azrael's comment earlier. i can think of better places to spend the money

well I own a mk1 and im hoping to buy one tmrw from her and i'll put it on my car asap.. she sells them on ebay to but just for the E30 at present, feel free to have a look:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/7-inch-bmw-e30-custom-bonnet-bra-protector_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em 14QQhashZitem43995b01b9QQitemZ290335687097QQptZUKQ 5fCarsPartsQ5fVehiclesQ5fCarPartsQ5fSMQQsalenotsup ported
If there is enough interest she will begin to sell them for saxo's too. Personally, just for the look I think they're great let alone achieving their objective with stopping majority of stone chips..
I guess they are like marmite - you either love them or hate them lol :p

Any questions you have then email using ebay if you like and they will reply asap otherwise I can ask for you!! No prob!

that isnt good as over time water and crap will manage to get under the bra and can cause damage to the cars paintwork.

Sorry just read that back and meant to say that it stays on occasionally whilst raining and isn't affected. He does take the bra off though, it doesn't stay on 24/7, I know it comes off when taking the car to work..
