I have just purchased -

oil filter

spark plugs
air filter
front pads

for my Corsa C and my missus Citroen C2 i got it for £102 inc VAT does that sound ok?
Im sure it sounds expensive i got it from my mates mum who works in a small motor factor and i got a pretty big discount.

Matt

p.s please move if necessary didnt think it would be suitable in another section.

Sorry yer thats for both cars.

Didnt bother with fuel filter as i didnt think many garages actually change it with a service.

Not got rear discs and fronts seem ok plus i was panic when the bill came to 100 lol so i thought no more!

Fuel filters normally gets changed as part of a service unless the garage is crap lol.

should really read the cars handbook or phone for the best oil, fully isnt always the best ;)

fully isnt always the best

How?

I was told 10-40 fully synthetic is better than normal 10-40.

Fully synthetic is technically always the best, however its just OTT unless your running a highly tuned lump.

Saxo VTS' for example need 10-40 semi synthetic. You could go for a 5w-40 fully synthetic but youd get no benefits and its more expensive. Also makes the engine tap like a cunt.

Go any lower in quality or ratings and your not gonna do internals any good. Although high mileage engines prefer less fluid oil, a 15w is acceptable.

Also to the OP, those prices sound ok. Not great but not bad either.

I get all servicing parts on trade and all fluids for free. Its not what you know its who ya know lol

changing the fule filter is important as we were working on an old avensis which was very poor performance would cough and splutter and sometimes not start and did loads of checks on it (OBD, compression etc) didnt check the fuel filter until someone said 'checked the fuel filter'

felt a right numpty for forgetting the basics but took it off and was full of white gunk and all sorts of crap (was non gen.) so replaced it for genuine and was fine, running like new

So the moral of the lesson - ALWAYS CHANGE AND CHECK THE BASICS

off the tangent but nevermind

Yeah thats very good for full synth oil. What make is it?

Where did the £100 come from then the oil should be the most expensive by far

Dont really know tbh just all added up i needed 10l of it, plus the pads they are about £15 each.

I have like triple checked the invoice as i kept thinking it seems really expensive but it all adds up.
