Has anyone noticed the new astra's have flashing brake lights? first saw it the other day as i was coming up to some traffic lights, just saw them randomly flashing so assumed it was the driver telling me he'd stopped as the lights were on green but nobody was moving, but then yesterday i had the same except the car was only just moving (must have coasted and just slammed on?)
think its a good idea in all honesty, certainly grabbed my attention but can't be legal surely?

Never seen any vehicle with flashing brake lights unless the driver is making them flash.......

Some newer cars automatically flash the brake lights during an emergency stop. Suppose it acts as an extra warning that they are stopping suddenly.
As said above, you can also buy kits off egay to do it, but they look a bit gash imo

ive seen them for sale before as an aftermarket mod....they could look quite good although most people would think your wirings just screwed up....especially on a saxo.

I know with some new bmws if you brake hard the brake light becomes brighter or another light in the cluster will light up

yeah i heard talks that they were gunna make all brake lights go from orange to red as you brake harder, as it would reduce crashes as you can tell how hard you need to brake.

Ai, my old man's BMW brake lights get brighter the harder you brake.
Never heard of flashing ones though, I know the fiat 500's hazards lights flash if you brake hard.

TBH theres no need for all this bollocks, if your not too close to the car in front it wont matter if he has normal brake lights or ultra bright 2 gazillion watt flashing ones.

Quite a few cars have it where the hazards come on if you brake really harsh,
But the brake lights flashing is new to me if its standard on a car.

yeah ive seen these on ebay .
if i brake hard in my car the hazards come on and the pedal goes into emergency so when i re-apply the breaks the pedal just drops to the floor...

when was the last time you were on a motorway and nearly crashed as you didn't realise the car in front (which you were a fair distance from) has actually stopped?

The second one! LOL
If you're driving WITH due care and attention, hazzard lights and/or flashing brake lights shouldn't make a difference.
The fact that the car in front of you appears to be getting bigger and the rate that this appears to be happening should tell you all you need to know!

or am i just a shit driver lol lol you were probably just a bit too close. thats never happened to me on the motorway. you shouldnt need special brake lights to get your attention.
and you know your too close behind when your reacting to someones brake lights and not their car's speed. its better staying further behind anyway cuz then you have enough room to scoot around and overtake them if they slow down.
