Air traffic let me and my mate race down the runway last night!

Picture the sceen...
4am saturday morning and all is quiet at RAF Lyneham.
My mate has an ST150 fezzie with a viper induction kit and a piper cat-back exhaust. You can see my mods below.

So we were having a little "discussion" about who's car would be quicker! He was having none of it that my saxo would beat his "fast ford"!
Someone suggested we ring air traffic control and ask if we could borrow the runway for a bit! So we did, expecting them to say no. They said YES!!!!
Even turned on the lights so we could do a proper start!
Right from the off I pulled away. Left him for dust all the way till I went off the clock at 140mph. (runway is pretty long!)

Sounds awesome. Got to do something similar when i did work experience at RAF St Athans. Was Feb '06 i think and had snowed earlier in the day so to test the grip of the runway i jumped in a Clio 182 with one of the tower controllers and zipped up and down the runway a few times (didnt get to drive though) and did some emergency stops.

Yeah it was pretty cool. Just wish they would have said yes to let us blast round the taxi ways though! They said we had to stick to the 20mph speed limit though! :(

There are a few CTR's on camp but there are around 5,000 people that work here so no, sorry, I don't know him! lol
