rightoo here goes, my heart was set on a 05 ep3 civic type r and i drove one, was good :y: but im not sure if i can part with £8k on monday in cash

i also have driven fiesta ST, VTS, skoda VRS, been on a yahama R6 (bike) and ridden it also

i want something that is really quick and yet comfortable and cheap to insure the civic isnt excatly ''cheap'' at a jaw dropping £2000 on insurance...

iv always loved bikes, but i am not allowed one because iv had one and i crashed it (rs125 slow noisy annoying little motorbike) but iv always felt iv learnt alot from the accident and i could ride a R6 with ease which i proved when i took a R6 for a spin

i dont do many miles a year, 7000 or so give or take a few miles and i had a VTS which wasnt excatly standard but i loved it but then i got a good offer and therefore i sold it but now im stuck! :n:

keep looking at various cars, clio 182 cup would be nice but it is french, ep3 nice but 8grand... is alot... and the most recent one iv been lookin at is a pulsar running at 300bhp

i know what iv put here is varied... but what would you do? £8k in cash for whatever? i dont really want to piss it up on the wall or spend it on something stupid... lol

help ? i also considered saving up abit more and getting a focus ST which would be alright but then insurance is jaw dropping as im only 19years old which is a downside

lol dont want to go back to a vts and i spent a fair whack on mine, was cammed etc was pretty quick tbh kept up with a scooby uk turbo off the lights until into 3rd he started to pull away loved my old vts and i would only buy a vts with the same spec, not many about in honesty and most are dogs no offence to anyone on here...

R6 for the thrill...but your not allowed one, how old are you? lol

Wouldn't call an RS125 slow for what they are unless yours was fucked/restricted/didn't have a powervalve.

19, im technically allowed one but my mentality whilist driving/riding isnt the best i tend to cane it quite alot lol and because of the accident with the rs125 my mum simply wont let me have one and its not really fair on her to impose it on her whilist living with her but if i didnt live at home i would have a R6 anytime

RS125s are slow mate, and i consider standard VTS quite slow.. lol

wouldnt go ep3 with your 8k alot of money for not alot of car in my oppinion both my vts and my mates 106 gti have always flown past them when theyve tried it on, both our cars were similar spec aswell cammed full breathing mods etc......so for not even a quater of the price of a ep3 you can get something that will have it for breakfast.

maybe its just me but im always looking at the most power/good handling/acceleration i can have out of my money that i can afford at the time.

id highly recommend a 3k saxo vts thats had thousands spent by the previous owner.

hellovts
18th July 2009, 21:16
djrussel correcto thats kinda what i was trying to explain uv summed it up! cheers

although if that was the case, wouldnt a 3k 300bhp pulsar easily be the winner? but a 3k vts with thousands by the previous owner is always a good car, but already had something similair... god i am begining to regret selling my vts

EP3's can be had for less than 8k can't they? shame the insurance is so much, but i dunno if a 182 would be much cheaper to insure either. what did you think to the vRS?

yeah can be had for less if u go for pre facelift, high miles etc but was going for the 05 / 55 plate ones with about 30k on clock backed up with fsh and hpi clear the usual lol

182 cup is ok-ish to insure, £1500 fc but for some reason the ep3 is a big jump to £2k as is a focus RS on a 2003 plate £2k the 200bhp + club are round 2k ftl lol

the VRS was a decent boring car, but if you were looking for something to poodle about in good car i think but if your looking for a toy like i am then there are better options but decent car imo looks arent up to stratch though bit ugly i thought lol

oh yes now your talking my language if you can afford a pulsar or something like go for that put it this way with the gt4 i was pleeeasantly suprised that it could make me smile more than the vts it feels great in everyway.

i just thought you was after something small with cheapish insurance??? or id of suggested something 4wd with a turbo to you. if you can honestly afford a jap turbo go for it why not.

id perhaps even suggest a gt4 st205 to you you can pick a good one up for £3500-£4000:y:

djrusell, played with one of these in the vts ( the photo uv just posted up ) bloody rapid cars lol but the one i raced had vnyils all over and looked a monster lol and it did go like shit off stovel lol

its not the car's value / running costs im worried about its the insurance i just simply refuse to pay more than 1.5k.. so i think i may end up cycling until im 20 december and get myself a decent car then?

i can guess what vinyls those were lol castrol by any chance, heres my one
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y300/dj_russell/DSC02402.jpg

the problem i encountered was being under 21 when i had my mg zs 180 it sat for 1 or 2 months till i turned 21 because noone would insure me then it cost me 2k when i was old enough that was on a group 17 car think these are 20+ along with all the pulsars, imprezas, evos, skylines.

getting a uk spec also tends to help unless they slip through as non turbos etc when they were imported and theres confusion. im 22 years old my st205s a jap import its double the vts insurance but still under a grand.

tbf my advice would be if your having difficulty getting insurance if i were you keep tight hold of that 8k and build on it even soon as you reach the age where your willing to pay the insurance get yourself a newish jap turbo car and itll be the best thing you ever did if you bear in mind petrol and maintainance.

but if you really will be happy to pay the other 4k in insurance now on a 4k jap turbo fuckin do it son youll love it.:y:

ps also little tip for you while shopping for superfast cars get the reg plates typed into insurance sites of the cars your after see if you can find one that "accidentally" got in the country as stuff like a gti thats really a gti-r. keep looking out for that theres loads of imports with mistakes or that the insurance hasnt a clue what they are if you ask them they rely on you to say its such and such.

yeah castrol vnyils think iv got a video of us playing about on the duelcs it spat flames when we were doing speeds of 3figures FUN times in the vts... grrrrrr might actually buy a mk1 vts to play with found a cammed omex ecu vts mk1 going for cheapish might pick that up and i wouldnt pay more than 1.5k to insure anything (i sound really tight lol apologies for this)

the group 17 cars are costing bang on £2k right now at 19, im thinking by the time i turn 20 itl be abit cheaper? and give me time to prepare? but then means no car for... 6months :fcuk:

and i dont really want to cheat insurance companies tbh rather be upfront about the car

i have 9k now but was aiming for a 8k car but was getting pissed off with the insurance prices ah well

what do you think of the focus ST it would be pretty easy to obtain one at 20 if i didnt buy anything until i was 20 esp in orange 3door lol

but in all honest i dont know what to do so i wont do anything tbh.. :n: but whatever happens i wont pay stupid £££ to insure anything lol

might be stretching your budget, but something like a mazda 6 mps could be alright. 260bhp, all wheel drive and insurance group 16. thirsty probably and a bitch to tax though.

dj_russell
18th July 2009, 22:48
id like a trd bodykit but everyone reakens to keep the outside as original as possible,

and i like the sound of a focus st im a fan of them especially in orange on the openroads they are fast laneswise i reaken a vts could push one along but for a whole round package the focus seems a good choice especially when they can reach 300bhp quite easily, and one with a good exhaust system sounds fantastic. and the electric orange colour again i love mad stuff so im for that idea.

Lol I said they're quite fast for what they are, a tiny 0.125 litre engine 0-60 in about 7 seconds, top speed 110mph for 17 year olds and affordable insurance.

Also depends on insurance, generally bigger speed = high powered engine = high insurance so depends if you can afford insurance for something pretty fast which by the sound of it you do so might be why you consider a VTS slow but to others they're quite quick if you get me.

that sounds a good choice tbf n/a 260bhp no lag and 4wd rapido. and only group 16 insurance and youll probably get good reliability at a guess.:y:

i reaken your cammed vts sounds the best suggestion you will be hard pushed out on the road to have something that will give you something to worry about, the vts is a fuckin fly like i said ages ago on here i looked and looked before i bought one for cars that could compete in the range of a vts and gti and i found myself getting close to the group 18 mark plus to find stuff you just cant go wrong with one, it pisses other drivers off to the max, handles awesome, gives you miles of smiles, cheap to tax, group 14 insurance, bits are dirt cheap, loads of them about for parts, maintenaince doesnt break the bank, not cheap to run though for the engine size on fuel i will say that once you get it cammed up etc if you are a heavy foot.

only dislikes of the saxo is everyone takes the piss that doesnt understand you always have to demonstrate against there vw vr6 etc before they say what a great car, everyone sees it the same as a vtr or thinks its the slow one because the vtrs the king lol not many people know what the vts is.

Whats wrong with pre-facelift EP3? You can get one in OKish condition for 4K or a looked after one for 5K.

If not have a look at UKDM Integra DC2, they hardly depreciate it.

Aren't they slower than a VTS?

hellovts
20th July 2009, 20:36
lol yes i fail but its common sense really at my age... :S but normally common sense doesnt count for me LOL

it did feel quite abit slower than my previous vts ... and handling was poop compared to my previous vts which was 60 on front and 100mm on rear **rear end down = bag of shit handling but the vts actually handles better even with the rear end dropped, accleration ran out of puff after 2nd in the st which is to be expected tbh, BUT its interior is far superior, new-ish low mileage etc... but vts beats it in every single dept other than interior lol
