Car Turned off When Driving.

I was driving my car yesterday and as i came up to a Junction the car turned itself off i touched nothing in the car or the keys for it to just turn off.
so i turn it back on and it started straight up then it did the same thing again!
I was very confused as to why it was doing this.
then the next time i turned it on it was fine :S
so i have no idea what was going on.
help please :) X

could be idle control valve
one of those few sensors around the throttle body area.
just pop them out give them a quick clean over with WD40 and see if that makes a difference.:y:

yep sounds like a idle valve mate give it a clean like scott said

if its not the idle valve it may be a air leak on the inlet

mine has done this a few times, went to a garage and told me its the idle control valve. :)

this happened to me when stopped on a hill, cuz i was playing music loud i didnt even realise the fucker had cut out, went to realease the clutch to go and was thinking why the fk arent i going forward

by the way where exactly is the idle control valve? anyone got a pic?

My old fiat cut out halfway down a dual carriageway whilst i was in the right-hand lane and wouldn't start for like 20 secs. Let's just say I got a few dirty looks from people >.>

yeh as said, check your idle control valve, but if its not then, then check the earth wire that goes on to top of your gear box, thats what was up with mine :)

and mine. came loose on the way to stoke down the a50. at 12am

60mph + no lights = shit fucking scary!

my starter motor sticks sometimes, and someone had pulled out on me on a bypass, so had to anchor up, ending up skidding and stalling, then crawling along at 10mph with it not starting!!

lol very true, so yeh before you go buying anysenors, check every wire that goes to the gear box are tight, might was the wire that is ( yellow/green and blue ), its an m8 bolt, ( 13mm spanner size )
