Hey guys, not long had my vtr but looking at it and comparing it to everyother omp strut brace fitted... it looks like its on back to front ha!

Basically it bows back towards the windscreen... in rubs on the bonnet when it shuts... everyone elses omp strut bows out to the middle of the engine bay.... :S can anyone advise?

I had to remove the sound proofing on the underside of the bonnet to stop my brace rubbing and to sit flush. pics would greatly help you out.

This is the normal OMP brace I wouldnt have thought you could have put it on the wrong way to be honest

If you didnt buy the item or fit it are you sure its an OMP item? Just cos it may have an OMP sticker on it dont mean to say its an OMP item

Hows it going Raz :y: PT still not up so Im blasting Saxp instead

I can see how you could put it on wrong (not the thread starter - the previous owner) but like I said could be a other branded item with a sticker on it.

Ive just fitted a OMP item on the Alfa, MOMO items where a rare factory option but I could find a MOMO sticker and rebadge it as so, get the drift?

is the brace more like a single bar it does not have the second rod like the pic above its jus one piece that runs along the back of the engine bay

like this

If the brace is the same as the one I had on mine but its not the same way round then remove it and turn it around, its that way around for a reason mainly to clear certain items, even if it clears everything under the bonnet Id still turn it around

woody813
22nd July 2009, 14:16
lool its exactly the same as the one pictured above with the other rod going across... but it faces toward the windscreen so sits sort of over and round the brake fluid bottle etc... mad!? :S

woody813
22nd July 2009, 14:22

its suposed to face the other way

if you turned it around the bolts would screw on as its a square (symetrical etc)

but they omp braces have clearance issues on mk1 vtrs

neither does mine mate have a mk1 and the exact same brace as in pic and not a problem at all cannot see how it will physically fit opposite way round though.

Ashleyp
22nd July 2009, 21:48
