how will i know if my water pump as gone,as in the bearings?

ive got a weird, loose, vibrating noise coming from behind my drivers side wheel and i think its my water pump but i dont know what else it could be.

i can here it when the car is parked and while revving the car and letting the car slow down by itself wehn driving but not when it ticking over by itself lol

its really confusing me lol

Hi, your water pump is driven by the timing belt and is under the timing belt cover. If you remove the cover the noise will get louder and you'll know for sure. Also, if its the water pump you might see coolant leaking.

Could be the alternator bearing too. This is driven by the aux belt which you can see when you look in the engine.

ahh right, i dont think theres any coolant leaking :)

hmmm i didnt think about the alternator, how wil i know that gone as my hearing aint too good :n:

Get a friend with better hearing!

You could see if the alternator aux belt is too tight / too loose and adjust it. Remove it for a moment.

You can often feel the vibration but, if you do this then be very careful near that alternator belt!

ahh right ok, ill give it a whirl tomorow :) and see if its a new alternator i need :)
