View Full Version : parking outside house

so, my brother and a neighbour just had a rant at each other over parking outside out house. basically the drive is big enough for 2 cars (no garage) and always has 2 parked on it (my brothers "project" and probably my brothers daily drive). however, myself, my mum and my stepdad each own cars, and when its just us its easy enough to get them outside (bumper to bumper) in the region of our house (hedgewall to hedgewall). however, we usually have friends around (we're young, god!) and so eventually end up parking either across the road (they're never in) or behind/infront of previously parked cars.

the problem being, today my car was practially poking the corner of her drive, causing her a bit of annoyance in getting out of her drive. she gets out, goes racing up the road, and then stops, comes back and says that the cars will be moved by the end of the night.

in short, what grounds are we on? can she get the cars moved? i'm perfectly happy to talk to her later and apologise for my car (it was a bit close in fairness!), but i can't enforce where other people park!

edit: we do have a garage at the top of the drive, only big enough for the stepdads bike, but can't pull it down as theres asbestos in it!

If you are on a parking on a lowered curb then she has a point and the law will be in her favour, if its not lowed then u pay your tax, so park wherever u want

the curb lowers about 3cm from the front of where my car was parked. can't park on the road itself as its about 1 1/2 car widths!

public highway and all that. Probably best not to tell her to fuck off though. Could be the vindictive sort. Car vandelism anyone?

Probs best way mate, just get her to see that she doesnt need the room but you occasionally do mate. Explain your in the right but that you dont want to make an enemy out of her over it.

i dont see why ppl who dont need the room complain, thats why i get so pissed off, my household has many cars, and many of my neighbours will let us park in their space even gardens and driveways, so why cant others who dont need the space understand it? just ignorance to me

aye yea, sounds like the best idea. think my brother just pushed her over the edge. i'd quite happily have moved it if she'd asked

i used to think that mate, then i just realised some ppl have nothing better to do and or are jealous that you need the room when they dont? only option really, your not blocking her in/out all the time she still has access albeit sometimes limited what other reason is there

my g/f has the same problem at hers mate. although she lives in a little private road with 3 other houses and next door think they own the whole road!! they do what ever the fuck they want but if we even park slighty off the drive they go fucking nuts!! we all find (all her family incuding mum and dad!!) the best thing to do is piss them off as much as possible without doing anything wrong leagally, some weekends we have comps to see who will get shouted at the most!! she once parked on her drive wonky (as she cant drive for shit and drives on the grass and up the kerbs) so i parked behind her so she was stuck but i was in a perfectly legal place!!! i then went down the pub and left the car there till 12 the next day! she went ape, called the police and they said there was nothing they could do as she was the one that parked in the wrong place lol

bit off track but i thought it was funny :y:

I have annoying neighbours too. My drive is big enough for three cars and we always park the cars on it but my stepdad has a works van that one does not fit on the drive and two there is no room for it so he parks it outside our house and the neighbours hate it. They are rubbish drivers by the way. They told the police about it but they just said that the van was parked correctly so there is nothing they can do about it. After the police told them this they started parking their cars outside my house to stop my stepdad parking there so he has to park halfway up the street. I think it is jut stupid and there is no need for it

my neighbour parks infront of our house all the time when there is ample room on his drive so me and my sister always block the little twats in haha
