lower engine doesnt seem to fit?????

i changed my gear box a couple of weeks ago and when i whent to connect the lower mount again i had to get one of my mates to pull on the top of the engine so that the 18mm bolts would go in. when i had it all in there was no engine movement at all but when i went to selct a gear the selector were hitting my manifold and wouldnt go in to gear. The only way i could get the mount on at all was to turn the mount upside down and only use one bolt to secure !!!!!.

does anyone have any ideas why this could be?

some one told me it could be because on my mount under the battery has worn but i don't think the mount is that bad.

any ideas or thort would be appreciated.

if you think the mount on the battery tray has worn... jack the battery side up and try to put the lower mount in again, see if it goes in then.
